To take it even further I’ve had conversations with some engineers doing exclusive work for Finlandia and Deutsche Grammophon who consider an omni the only "real" microphone disregarding the cardiod microphone completely because of its off-axis colouration. Millennia Media makes a pre-amp (HV-3B) with a high voltage option that when combined with the 4003 is generally considered in the field recording industry to be as transparent a combination as is technically available.īy the way, it is a generally accepted principle that with dedicated pattern microphones the quality of the pick-up is less "coloured" than a multi-pattern microphone at the obvious expense of versatility. They make a 4003/4006 which are a dedicated omni pattern microphone with the 4006 requiring 48v phantom powering and the 4003 requiring 130v.
I am thinking to get mostly multy pattern mics ,so I can get more use of them.Īs is stated above B & K stands for Bruel & Kjaer which is now know as DPA- Danish Pro Audio. I may get 2 Neumann 148.I am waiting for the new multy pattern Shure studio mic.The big brother of the KSM32. If you know of any books that sugest mic arangement technic ,please let me know I will buy it.
I am thinking to have like 2 mics for each section, and another 2 for the stereo image in the front of the orchestra.I don't have any experience with this kind of live recordings. I need to find out what mics are good for strings, wind ,percution.I will start getting match pairs from now on. I know that the mirophone subject is so "relative". I don't know what microphones I should get. I want to learn more about this kind of recordigs maybe one day I'll make a living doing this.
I am doing this for free,(fund raising to buy instruments for children that can not afford to buy one). I must prepaire to record a live symphonic orchestra.
